• It helps the Fund get those contributions invested and earning returns as soon as possible—that’s good for everyone because investment earnings help support benefit payments.

• The Ontario Pension Benefits Act requires pension contributions be received by the Fund Office no later than 30 days after your engagement date.

• The Fund has a Collection Control Policy which requires that the Fund Office must receive all contributions no later than 60 days after the end of the year in which your engagement took place. Late contributions require a letter explaining the extenuating circumstances that caused the contributions to be late; the Trustees may or may not approve the processing of late contributions.

If you are the leader:

Make sure contracts provide for pension contributions as required under CBAs or local tariffs.

File the contract with the local associated with the engagement.

Track and check that contributions were sent to the Fund Office.

Your contributions can be checked on the Fund’s web site.

Check your annual statement to see that all contributions have been included.

Contact the Fund Office if there is a discrepancy between the amount of the contributions shown on your statement and those you have tracked for the year.

If you are not the leader:

Check with the leader that your information is correct on the contract.

Check with the leader that the contract has been filed.

Keep track of your pension contributions.

Your contributions can be tracked on the Fund’s web site.

Check your annual statement to see that all contributions have been included.

Contact the Fund Office if there is a discrepancy between the amount of the contributions shown on your statement and those you have tracked for the year.
