Moved to a New Address? Changed your Email? Let Us Know!
If you’ve moved in the last year, did you send the Pension Fund your new address? You may have told your employer, your local, and/or the AFM/CFM, but the Fund Office needs to know too. (Typically, your local and AFM/CFM do not automatically provide this information to the Fund office.) If we don’t have your new address, we can’t contact you, and chances are you’re missing important information from the Fund about your pension benefit. It’s easy to change your address or other contact information with the Fund Office. You can: • Visit the Fund’s website, sign into the Member portal and click/tap the Member tab, • Email it to info@mpfcanada.ca, or, • Fax it to 416-497-4742. Let us know about any email changes too.
Nearing Age 71? You Must Take Your Pension. Under the Income Tax Act, you must begin receiving your MPF Canada pension benefit no later than December 1 of the year in which you turn age 71. If you miss the deadline, the Fund must request approval from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to pay your pension. Only when the CRA provides its approval can the Fund begin payments to you. This additional approval process will delay the start of your pension. So, please make plans in advance to start your pension as required by law.
