Celebrating Retirements and Promotions!

Retirements: We want to acknowledge two retirements at the end of 2018: Executive Director Ellen Versteeg-Lytwyn and Data Processing Clerk Nora Cid.

As we reported earlier this year, Mrs. Versteeg-Lytwyn, our long-time Executive Director, is retiring December 31, 2018. Ellen has been with the Fund for 46 years. She has been instrumental in growing the Fund from just 18 pensioners to 3,300 pensioners and from CAD $3,000,000 to CAD $800,000,000 in assets! Beyond the numbers, Ellen has hired and mentored everyone on our staff and worked with many trustees over the years. We will all miss her humor, knowledge, and wise counsel. Ellen, we thank you for serving the Fund, staff and participants so well and wish you a wonderful retirement! For Ellen’s reflections on her career, see the April 2018 newsletter.

Nora Cid works in our data processing department, processing contribution remittance cheques, reconciling cheques and contracts, and maintaining employer records. Nora has been working at the Fund for more than 24 years. She often works with Local staff to resolve contract/contribution issues. We will all miss her warmth, patience and determination in finding resolutions. Thank you, Nora, for making sure that our participants received credit for the contributions to which they were entitled. We hope you have a happy and fulfilling retirement!

Promotions: To Executive DirectorJill Giustino (as of January 1, 2019), and to Contribution Remittance—our newest employee, Nadia Chamale.

Jill has been with the Fund since she was 15(!), when she started working here during her summer school vacations. Over the past year, Jill has been transitioning into the Executive Director role under Ellen’s guidance. For Jill’s view of her new role, see the April 2018 newsletter. Congratulations on your promotion, Jill!

Nadia has been training with Nora Cid for the last few months to take on Nora’s role. Welcome Nadia!

2018 MPFC contracts must be received by the Fund Office by March 1, 2019.
