John G. Sinclair Retires from the Board of Trustees

After 24 years of dedicated service to our Fund, Mr. John G. Sinclair is retiring from the Board of Trustees as of December 31, 2020.

During his time on the MPF Canada Board, John has been a strong advocate for improving the Board’s communication with members. He also had a keen interest in the Fund’s investments and attended many educational sessions on the subject giving him great insight on the investment side of our pension fund. John spent his career in the marketing and advertising industry and held several senior-level roles in that industry. John retired from the industry in 2000.

John notes that he has experienced 24 years of stimulating, challenging and satisfying MPF Canada Board meetings and he has worked alongside great fellow Trustees, Fund staff, and professional consultants.

We appreciate John’s service and contributions to the Fund and wish him many happy and healthy years in retirement!

The Fund Welcomes William J. Stafford to the Board of Trustees

William (Bill) J. Stafford will replace John G. Sinclair as Employer Trustee effective January 1, 2021. Bill spent over 40 years in the investment management industry. Most recently, he was Director of Investments for the Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda. Bill is currently a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Canadian Cancer Society and served for many years as Board member and Treasurer of the Art Gallery of Burlington Foundation.

Bill is a keen tennis player and fan. He also enjoys photography and is a member of the Latow Photography Guild at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

We welcome Bill to the Board and look forward to his contributions to the Fund’s continued success.

Reminder: 2020 Contribution Deadline is March 1, 2021!

Wishing You a Happy Holiday Season!

We know that this year has been a difficult one for many of our members and we hope that you will find some comfort knowing that our past investment successes will provide the Fund with a solid financial foundation as we move into 2021. The Trustees will continue to monitor the progress of the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the financial markets, and we will communicate as often as needed about the financial status of the Fund. We look forward to sharing the Fund’s financial results in our 2020 Annual Report, due out in June 2021.

Also in 2021, we will continue our communications campaign to provide you with the resources you need to better understand your pension benefit and how the plan works. If you have concerns or questions about the plan or your benefit, please contact the Fund Office at 416-497-4702.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the staff of the Musicians’ Pension Fund of Canada, we wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and happy New Year!
